Opportunity Voters
In our increasingly partisan political environment, voters who are deeply entrenched in identification with a political party are unlikely to swing their vote. Yet there is a huge opportunity in mobilizing individuals and communities who have typically participated less in voting and politics.
The biggest swing voter in our modern day politics are non-voters to voters. Considered “low-propensity voters,” these communities have been left behind by traditional politics and campaigns. These are most often communities who have been deeply disenfranchised and left behind by our systems and institutions at large - specifically Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, immigrant and refugee communities, low-income communities, and young people. These are our opportunity voters.
Mobilizing our communities.
We invest in PACs and innovative campaigns that target these opportunity voters using relational organizing, consistent community outreach, culturally competent approaches, and innovative messaging strategies.
Long-term investment.
Part of the distrust of candidates and politics is a result of the boom-and-bust cycle of elections where communities see short-term investment and interest in their engagement. After big election years communities are often left exhausted by outsiders who have helicoptered in then divested once they no longer needed their votes. Afterwards communities have elected representation that may or may not be truly responsive to their needs and no clear path to accountability. We focus our investments on long-term infrastructure building through election cycles - with the intention to build sustainable engagement in the communities we organize.
